South Africa's Highest Mountains

South Africa is a reasonably flat country. But the centre of the country is dominated by mountains. These mountains surround Lesotho, a land locked country, in the centre of South Africa. Majority of the highest peaks form part of this range, know as the Drakenberg. In Afrikaans, Drakensberge "Dragon Mountains", Zulu: uKhahlamba "Barrier of Spears"; and Sotho: Maluti Mountains. The Berg as it is more commonly referred to, is the highest mountain range in Southern Africa, rising to 3,482 metres. The Drakensberg mountains stretch from the Eastern Cape, through KwaZulu Natal and end in Tzaneen, a small town in the center of the Limpopo Province.
